STERA

ESG- DATA INTO ORDER

NAICC carried out a three-day Solution Sprint for Stera with the goal of modernizing the data processing related to sustainability reporting and building the first version of an AI-based, centralized information management solution.

During the sprint, the focus was on concrete use cases through which the company’s heavy and Excel-dependent reporting process could be automated and scaled.

In just a few days, Stera received an MVP-level service and a clear roadmap for how the solution can be taken into production and expanded in the future for both internal and external use.

Challenge

Stera faced the rapidly growing challenge of sustainability reporting:

manual data collection, a large number of certificates and documents, and data compiled from multiple systems created significant workload and quality risks.

The company needed to develop a concrete, AI-based solution that would not be just a reporting tool — but the starting point for a modern, centralized, and automated sustainability management system.

They needed the ability to identify the best use cases, build the first technical version, and create the foundation for a long-term development path without months of preliminary studies.

Team

For the sprint, NAICC assembled an expert team perfectly tailored to Stera’s needs:

  • CTO & Full-stack engineer with domain experience from a sustainability SaaS company

  • AI/Data Senior Architect with experience in large industrial environments

  • Senior service designer & full-stack developer

This exceptionally strong combination of technical architecture, AI expertise, data structure understanding, and usability design made it possible to design the solution as production-ready from the very beginning.

Result

During the sprint, we exceeded Stera’s expectations by delivering a concrete MVP version of a centralized sustainability management system. This included a centralized data warehouse as well as an ERP integration.

In addition, we designed a model for scaling the system for use by partner companies. The sprint also produced an AI-based document information recognition concept that extracts data directly from product specifications. The outcome was a clear roadmap for further development and production deployment, along with a testable solution instead of just an analysis.

"At first, we weren’t quite sure what to expect — would we get something concrete, something entirely new, or something in between? In the end, we received all of this and more. The sprint was a very positive experience for us: working with the expert team was smooth and inspiring, and the outcome exceeded our expectations."
