Turku Energia

AI into practice

NAICC carried out a three-day Solution Sprint for Turku Energia with the goal of exploring the potential of artificial intelligence in the energy sector. During the sprint, we focused on how AI can be applied to real business needs and immediately put the insights into practice through a concrete test.

In just a few days, Turku Energia gained both a comprehensive understanding of AI applications and its first hands-on experiment for improving operations.

Problem

Turku Energia saw the potential of artificial intelligence but faced a common challenge: how to move from buzzwords to practical value. They already had a strong technology stack in place, but the question remained – where should we begin, and how can AI be integrated meaningfully into our operations? The company needed clarity on concrete use cases, the right approach for implementation, and a way to quickly test AI in their real environment without committing to a long and costly project.

Team

For this sprint, NAICC brought together a team carefully tailored to the challenge.

Two senior AI developers joined to design and build a first version of an internal AI tool.

They were supported by an AI governance expert, who ensured that the work aligned with responsible AI practices and that future scaling would be secure and compliant.

This combination of deep technical expertise and governance perspective gave Turku Energia both hands-on results and strategic guidance.

Outcome

The sprint team delivered tangible results that went far beyond initial expectations. Turku Energia received a functioning MVP of an internal AI tool, giving them a concrete example of how AI could be applied to their business. Alongside the prototype, the team provided a thorough analysis of the company’s current state and opportunities for AI integration. The customer’s own team was embedded in the process, learning directly from the experts and gaining practical insights that will guide their future development. To broaden the impact, the sprint concluded with a one-hour lecture for the entire company, sharing lessons learned and demonstrating how AI can be used in daily operations.

I was very excited when I heard of Naicc's approach to problem solving. Every competing offer for a similar case started off with atleast a 6 week current state analysis. Working with Naicc was by far the easiest to start and to finish.
